The Balsams is a fantastic destination, and a great location to host an adventure race from.
Of course, their usual hotel guests will not be as . . . active . . . as Untamed New England will be . . .
but they're excited to host us just the same. Even though our racers will not see a
hotel bed for 3 nights, this
resort is energized by the intensity of the event.
The region offers thousands of acres of wilderness, dramatic mountain passes,
rushing rivers and crystal clear lakes. It's a land that has never seen condominium developments,
nor street lights, nor highway construction; you'll find as many moose here as people.
Next week, adventure racers will descend on the Balsams and decorate the parking
lot with full-suspension mountain bikes, merino wool, and ultralight gear. The Balsams has been
very flexible in making arrangements that cater to our event -- opening breakfast hours early just for us,
running dinner hours late just for us. They've put their facilities at our disposal, helping us to
deliver "elegance on the edge" and I know it will be an event to remember.
So pack your gear and get rested, the Balsams is ready and waiting for you!
