We want to thank all the generous racers and volunteers who donated food in our first Untamed Adventure Food Drive. Helping Hands was overjoyed with the donation and we told them we would pass on the thanks to all of you! Thank you for helping us make a difference in this community!

The winner of Untamed New England 2010 has been determined to be GUATS Adventure! The second place finish goes to Team Skandia Key Experience, third to Team Granite and forth to Team Running Free.
GUATS Adventure arrived back at 8:12 am with 24 hours of bonus Team Skandia/Key Experience at 8:30 am with 12 hours of bonus Team Granite at 8:56 am with 12 hours of bonus Team Running Free at 9:32 am with 12 hours of bonus
I *think* I have all the teams back at the finish, just doing some QC on times in and updating the leader board.

It looks like a beautiful day is breaking over the Untamed New England race course. I haven't had updates from CP33/CP36 lately, but I'll get them soon and all the teams are through CP 30, there's just VERY bad sat phone reception there so the rest of the splits won't come in probably until the race is over.
Teams must arrive back to the Balsams before 10 am to be considered official finishers and I just love seeing those SPOT beacons approach the Balsams. 3 more hours to go and I can't help but wonder how many bonus points are being earned out there for those two teams battling it out....

Team Skandia/Key Experience (24) rolled into the finish line at 1:39 am this morning - 3 hours or so off the pace of GUATS Adventure. BUT, with CPs being worth 4 hour time each this race will still be fought to the finish. Teams battling for 3rd and 4th place have both called in from CP 33; Team Granite (23) called in at 23:44 last night and Team Running Free (18) called in 2:51 am. Still lots of time left on the race course for a shake up in standings, but for the moment the top four teams are:
1. Team GUATS Adventure 2. Team Skandia/Key Experience 3. Team Granite 4. Team Running Free

Our finish line is officially open with a few of our short course teams
coming in. From this point, teams have to decide how much of the
optional orienteering points to do in the land surrounding the Balsam's
Resort. None of our full course teams have checked in yet to the finish
line - although we expect them to go back out on foot to get optional
checkpoints until mid morning tomorrow. On a side note, the weather here
is beautiful with clear skies and apparently meteor showers are
entertaining our EMTs. Lovely.

CP33 on the final bike leg involved calling in to the race finish line to indicate that they have arrived there. The only team to do this so far is Team Guats Adventure at 19:27 making it a 5 hour ride from 32 to 33 for them. There are 15 more teams between these two CPs and 14 more that have yet to leave CP32. With a lot of logging roads and choices to make it will be interesting to see the leaderboard changes!

In an unfortunate turn of events it appears that Team #18 Running Free has forgotten their sat phone at CP26 so we have someone sending it forward to their location now. This will cost them 2 hours in penalties however and probably not what they were hoping for in such a well executed race. It may work in their favour though if they catch some rest before putting their stellar nav skills to the test in the rogaine!

Right now, no team has opened up CP 14, but I expect Team Skandia/Key Experience (24) there shortly. Unfortunately, their SPOT beacon isn't transmitting right now so we can only guess how hot on their heels that pack of teams (15,28,5,18,23) are.
